It may or may not surprise some that not unlike other rock star divas, Vice President Dick Cheney has his own "rider", a set of rules governing the conditions of his suite at hotels where he stays. And yes, he does demand that "all televisions be turned to Fox News."

It looks like I'm not alone. While I enjoy the olympics and the figure skating has been interesting, I still am not sure what to make over some of these outfits. What are the designers thinking? It used to be skating costumes were merely "gay"-looking. Now they've moved into the realm of some kind of weird mushroom-induced, Michael Jacksonfied, when-animals-attack, Caligula-inspired, barbie-doll, mermaid-transexual, lion king afterbirth nightmare. What is the deal?

Continuing the list theme, here's an interesting article on the 50 Most Loathsome People In America, circa 2005. This is isn't half bad either, since there are many on it whom we'd expect, such as Geraldo Riveria, Bob "Douchebag of Liberty" Novak, Michael Brown, George Lucas, Donvan McNabb and other notables. Oh yea, you're on the list too!

Some say when you die, that's it; others believe in heaven and hell. And then there's that contingent of wealthy, narcisisstic men who think they've figured out a way to cheat death, and their heirs at the same time. How? Well, elementary dear Watson, freeze yourself in liquid nitrogen when you die, expecting to be revived later, and leave all your money to yourself!

The concept is called a "Revival Trust" and as expected, there seems to be no shortage of lawyers and financial planners promoting this bizarre scheme.

A busy time in the U.S. Senate, the "world's greatest deliberative body." Judging from the 2006 conference report, the Senate subcommittee on Labor, Health and Human Services and Education -- Chairman Arlen Specter (R), ranking member Tom Harkin (D) -- has been deliberating especially hard:

"Sec. 221. (a) The Headquarters and Emergency Operations Center Building (Building 21) at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is hereby renamed as the Arlen Specter Headquarters and Emergency Operations Center.

(b) The Global Communications Center Building (Building 19) at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is hereby renamed as the Thomas R. Harkin Global Communications Center."

Good to see that even in the viciously partisan atmosphere of today's politics, Republicans and Democrats can still work together to carry out the people's business.

Everyone said she was a gem. Now, just eight ounces of cremated remains is all it takes to turn your mother into a diamond. LifeGem uses super-hot ovens to transform ashes to graphite and then presses the stone into blue and yellow diamonds that retail for anywhere from 2,700 to 20,000 dollars.

This might seem a little hard to believe, but Washington native Dennis Avner has a rather obscure hobby in which he is progressively altering his body to be more "cat-like" (pulled teeth and replaced with cat-dentures, stainless steel body inserts that he attaches whiskers to, etc). After more than $200,000 in body modifications, he's currently looking for a job to help fund more. What? This guy can't find a job?

The latest Internet fad comes in the wake of the London bombings. A new web site, werenotafraid.com has popped up encouraging people to post images expressing this sentiment.

For the bravest of visitors, the site sells a plethora of "We're Not Afraid" merchandise, including the daring, "We're Not Afraid" T-Shirt, so you can parade around the mall declaring your sense of personal security to everyone else. The site's authors have even graciously decided to donate an ambiguous portion of their revenue to the Red Cross.

Look for these peoples' next web project: WeAreNotFat-WeAreJustBigBoned.com.

The latest in the Bill O'Reilly sexual harassement scandal is a bombshell: O'Reilly's camp is demanding that tapes of the infamous sex conversations (which were previously not confirmed to exist), be handed over to them. Other camps imply that there are all sorts of wheeling and dealing to settle the O'Reilly case before the public has a chance to hear the tapes and that they be destroyed.

If Mackris is hurting for money, there's a big campaign to purchase the tapes and keep them from being destroyed. People will apparently pay any price to hear O'Reilly's sexual ode to middle eastern food.
