The Dragon's Den is an interesting tv show that originally started in the UK. The show is based on the premise that would-be entrepeneurs pitch products and services to the "dragons" - a group of successful businessmen. Sometimes the ideas are good, most of the time they're bad, but almost every time, the inventor is sure they've found "the most awesome product ever!" In one recent case, a guy hawking "miracle cure water", the same kind of stuff you'll see routinely advertised on talk radio, comes up against the Dragons... Let's watch..

As Comcast seeks Congressional approval for their merger with NBC, Senator Al Franken notes that out of one side of Comcastcast's mouth they claim the FCC will keep them from abusing their almost monopolist status, and out of the other, their lawyers are claiming the FCC has no jurisdiction in enforcing their decisions.

It's refreshing to see a politician finally act appropriately when he's being blatantly lied to. And especially interesting to see the CEO of NBC, Al Franken's old boss, cow tow to him now that he's a senator.

I think Franken has probably blown his chances to host SNL.

A little sleuthing online by various net-detectives has uncovered evidence to the contrary.

The NYT says, "Tony Snow, a conservative writer and commentator who cheerfully sparred with reporters in the White House briefing room during a stint as President Bush's press secretary, died Saturday of colon cancer. He was 53."

I remember when he first took the job he claimed that his credibility shouldn't be questioned because he took a pay cut to be White House Press Secretary.

Then when he left office, he cited as the reason for leaving, he wasn't making enough money to be able to afford the lifestyle to which he was accustomed.

President Bush was at Monticello for a 4th of July celebration and he delivered an address. But it's quite telling that his speechwriters, in quoting Jefferson, cut out an anti-religious statement from a long and famous quote. Here's the way Bush put it:

Thomas Jefferson understood that these rights do not belong to Americans alone. They belong to all mankind. And he looked to the day when all people could secure them. On the 50th anniversary of America's independence, Thomas Jefferson passed away. But before leaving this world, he explained that the principles of the Declaration of Independence were universal. In one of the final letters of his life, he wrote, "May it be to the world, what I believe it will be -- to some parts sooner, to others later, but finally to all -- the Signal of arousing men to burst the chains, and to assume the blessings and security of self-government."

Now let's look at the full quote, including the part that was cut out...

Whole Foods' local grower campaign hasn't panned out as advertised, according to a lawsuit filed by an Alabama farmer.

Snow's Bend Farm, a family-owned commercial grower near Black Warrior River, AL, said in a suit last week Whole Foods' advertisements list the grower as a fresh and authentic local supplier. But the grocer has never bought a single item from Snow's Bend, says the suit filed in U.S. District Court in Birmingham. Whole Foods had no comment on the matter Monday, saying only that it hopes for a peaceful resolution.

The suit says the saga started in January 2007 when a Whole Foods executive contacted the farm, saying it wanted to buy produce and tout the grower as a "local supplier."

Blogger Colleen Caldwell rants and riffs about whatever strikes her fancy — a run-in with her child's school principal, the rising price of Girl Scout thin mints, or an upcoming movie that caught her eye.

"Has anyone out there read a book called 'The Ultimate Gift'? I just heard that a movie is being made of the book (which sold 4 million copies)," she wrote in a recent post on her site, Simple Kind of Life.

The 30-year-old software analyst from Brooksville, Fla., went on to praise the inspirational message of the Fox Faith film, which opens today, about a trust fund baby who discovers the joy of giving.

One thing Caldwell didn't mention: She was paid $12 to build buzz about the movie's opening and the charitable campaign — bringing her blogging-for-dollars take to more than $7,700.

Normally we don't post goofy celebrity crap on this site. I could care less about Anna Nicole Smith or which closet Tom Cruise is hiding in, but the delicious irony of this was too tempting...

Joe Rogan says, So here's how it all went down...I had a set at the comedy store Saturday night, and after I closed, I was bringing on the next comedian, a guy named Kirk Fox that works for Carlos Mencia. I introduce him saying that he's a funny guy, and that he opens on the road for Carlos "Menstealia." That’s the name we call him at the comedy store, and of course Carlos doesn't like it one bit. Carlos was apparently in the room when I said this, and the perfect combination of ego and timing made him decide that this was the night to put his foot down. As I got off stage and headed towards the back of the room, he grabbed the mike away from Kirk, and said that I was too much of a pussy to say that shit to his face. Which to me, is something akin to the hottest girl in the world daring you to f*ck her while you're standing there in her bedroom naked with a boner..."

Update: Carlos Mencia has apparently turned into a whiny baby and forced Rogan's agency to dump him.

Since Carlos Mencia isn't original, isn't Mexican, and isn't talented, and wants to destroy Joe Rogan for exposing his theft of other comedians' material, why not send a message to comedy central about how you feel. Maybe if enough of us complain, Mencia can get a dose of his own medicine? Also, here's a petition to get Mencia off Comedy Central.

To promote his new Clinton Global Initiative, a program to bring experts and nations together to solve social and environmental problems, President Clinton filmed an interview with FOX News's Chris Wallace.

Since this is Fox News, all didn't go according to what they told the former president, and Wallace ended up trying to assassinate Clinton's character by reinforcing the lies perpetrated by the right-wing smear "Path to 9/11." blaming Clinton for Bin Laden's attacks.

In this interview, Wallace opened the Pandora's box and Clinton refused to let him shut it--he lashed back at Wallace, Fox, and conservatives perpetrating a fraud and accusing him of being soft on terrorism.

Clinton's counter-arguments were specific, clear, and fair and balanced. So what does FOX do? Promote the interview as "Clinton Freaks Out"... [LOOK OUT! He's telling the truth. He must be crazy!!]. Watch the fireworks this upcoming week as the video is released. See the full transcript here.

The U.S. secretly agreed to the "real demands" set by the group behind the August 14 kidnapping of two Fox News journalists in Gaza, according to a report in the pan-Arab newspaper al Hayat.

The paper quotes "informed sources close to the mediations" as saying that the U.S. secretly negotiated with the group through leaders of "the Palestinian popular resistance committees."

Last week, the previously unknown group calling itself "The Holy Jihad Brigades" issued a statement demanding the release of all Muslims held in U.S. prisons in return for the release of the two journalists. In fact, the paper reports that the public demand was not serious and that the group's "real demands" were that the U.S. press Israel to reopen the Rafah border crossing between Egypt and Palestine and cease the shelling of "Palestinian activists'" residences.

The Counter to Bush's "Talking Points"

[Liars]
As the Mainstream Media reports on a number of scandals that are appearing involving the President and his administration, they will be repeatedly responding with pre-fabricated talking points based on the idea, if they say them enough (regardless of whether they're true), people will start to believe them. Please pass this around so you and your friends can be "innoculated" with the truth about the issues that various media and pundits will be ranting about.

In Summary (with details links and references later) here are the talking points and the truth:

Bush did not violate the FISA. (Yes he did)

Bush did not break the law. (Yes he did)

History shows Presidents have the power to violate the law, especially in times of war. (No it doesn't)

History shows that other Presidents like Bill Clinton and Jimmy Carter did the same by overriding FISA. (No it doesn't)

Secret warrantless spying of Americans was/is required for national security reasons, since FISA was inadequate, and secret spying could have prevented 9/11. (No it wasn't/isn't and probably couldn't)

The secret spying only focused on Al Qaeda, terrorists and their supporters and one end of the intercepted communications was always in foreign soil. (Uh...No)

The leak to the New York Times, of Bush's secret spying on Americans, was a crime and had nothing to do with whistleblowers. (Rubbish)

Bush's critics are just partisan political hacks. (Takes one to know one...but wrong again)

Top Democrats in Congress supported the illegal spying. (No they didn't)
