Here's another story you won't find hitting many of the airwaves. The major car manufacturers have implemented a new standard with respect to the diagnostic data new cars generate. What this means is that more and more small, independent, less-expensive car repair places cannot work on peoples' cars because they can't decode the diagnostic messages. There's a battle now to change this so anyone can repair their own cars, and not just the elite dealers who can understand the codes.

International cancer experts have moved tanning beds and other sources of ultraviolet radiation into the top cancer risk category, deeming them as deadly as arsenic and mustard gas.

A new analysis of about 20 studies concludes the risk of skin cancer jumps by 75 percent when people start using tanning beds before age 30. Experts also found that all types of ultraviolet radiation caused worrying mutations in mice, proof the radiation is carcinogenic. Previously, only one type of ultraviolet radiation was thought to be lethal.

Do you ever wonder how such a small minority has so much power online and in the media? Here's one reason:

The Megaphone desktop tool is a Windows "action alert" tool developed by give Israel the appearance of large scale online support. The tool is distributed by the World Union of Jewish Students, World Jewish Congress, The Jewish Agency for Israel, World Zionist Organization, StandWithUs, Hasbara fellowships, HonestReporting, and other pro-Israel public relations, media watchdog, or activism organizations. The tool delivers real-time alerts about key articles, videos, blogs, and surveys related to Israel or the Arab-Israeli conflict, especially those perceived by GIYUS (which stands for Give Israel Your United Support) to be highly critical of Israel, so that users can vote or add comments expressing their support of Israel.

The Megaphone Desktop Tool gives the user the option of going to a particular site with a poll, and if the user chooses to go to the site, the software then casts a vote automatically, when this is technically feasible. The vote is chosen automatically by the distributors of Megaphone.

Computer chipmaker Intel has been fined a record 1.06bn euros ($1.45bn) by the European Commission for anti-competitive practices, dwarfing the 497M euro fine levied on Microsoft in 2004 for abusing its dominant market position.

The Commission found that between 2002 and 2007, Intel had paid manufacturers and a retailer to favour its chips over those of Advanced Micro Devices (AMD).

The Commission said that personal computer makers Acer, Dell, HP, Lenovo and NEC had all been given hidden rebates if they only used Intel chips.

Monsanto Wins Case To Stop Hormone-Free Milk Labels

A federal court in Ohio has ruled that dairies cannot legally label their milk "hormone free" "rBST-free" or otherwise clearly tell consumers that they aren't pumping up their cows with synthetic hormones.

It's a blow to truth-in-labeling advocates, a blow to consumers and a blow to organic farmers. It's a win for Monsanto, the agrichemical giant that prompted the lawsuit, and a win for Eli Lilly, which bought Monsanto's synthetic recombinant bovine growth hormones (known as rBST or rBGH) business a couple months ago. The use of these hormones is banned throughout most other first world nations. The labeling issue is moot in the 27-nation European Union, along with Canada, Japan, Australia and New Zealand, since they don't allow the use of synthetic hormones in the first place.

Max Keiser looks at the ongoing financial crisis and asks whether the government and Central Bank remedies are penalizing workers and savers.

Is this what capitalism is ultimately all about? Not saving money and creating solid wealth and equity, but continually leveraging what you have to get more without a solid foundation? And in the current economic mess, are the people who were responsible with debt and their money the ones who are getting the worst deal?
