FBI agents have arrested a man accused of sending over a dozen envelopes filled with white powder and threatening letters to public figures including MSNBC anchor Keith Olbermann, David Letterman, Jon Stewart, Speaker-in-Waiting Nancy Pelosi, and Democratic Senator Charles Schumer.

Shockingly, the suspect is a 39-year-old white man who lives with his parents, spends a lot of time on the right-wing site Free Republic, and thinks Ann Coulter is a "goddess." FBI agents trailed him to a mailbox and watched him post a powder-filled envelope, catching him in the act and charging him with the felony of sending threats by U.S. Mail.

Olbermann commented on the arrest, of course, and we have the video....

The independent grant-making MacArthur Foundation will spend $50 million (that's a 5 with seven zeroes after it) on a five-year initiative to study how and why young people use the Web, games, and gadgets to "learn, play, and communicate." Their opening hypothesis? "[T]he richest environment for learning is no longer inside the classroom but…online and after school." So they think young folks are getting online because it makes it easier for them to LEARN?! WRONG--Young folks are getting online to express how stupid everyone but them is on their MySpace blog, watch the latest inane video on YouTube, download free music, and (primarily) to scour the internet for thousands of hours of sweet, sweet porn. There, I've saved them 5 years and $50 million.

The Department of Energy, the Energy Information Administration, and the American Gas Association have a really great spin for you on why Global Warming is A-OK. Lower winter heating bills! In an article on the AP and in statistics on various government websites, the news is being touted that winter heating bills are going to be lower across the board, especially for users of Natural Gas. Is this because of new policies to make gas and oil producer's eat SOME of the high prices of the products they pull out of the ground? Is it because they've figured out a way to stabilize the regions where oil comes from? No, stupid, it's because this winter is going to be one of the warmest on record!

The brand of news coverage Jon Stewart and the rest of The Daily Show's staff brings to the airwaves is just as substantive as traditional news programs like World News Tonight and the CBS Evening News.

Most of us think the Daily Show is a lot more informative than all mainstream news.

One would think journalists might not make fun of a high-profile industry colleague, in this day and age, receiving an envelope -- at home -- which contains white powder. But that seemed to be the case at the New York Post's "Page Six" today in reporting on an alleged incident involving Keith Olbermann, host of MSNBC's "Countdown."

Olbermann is not only a frequent critic of President Bush and the Iraq war -- he has been involved in a long feud with Fox News in general, and with Bill O'Reilly in particular. Fox News and the New York Post share an owner: Rupert Murdoch.

Olbermann has more to say on the issue, including how the New York Post may have interfered with a federal investigation. Check out his video response here where he says unequivocably, "We will not be intimidated by threats from the radical right."

To promote his new Clinton Global Initiative, a program to bring experts and nations together to solve social and environmental problems, President Clinton filmed an interview with FOX News's Chris Wallace.

Since this is Fox News, all didn't go according to what they told the former president, and Wallace ended up trying to assassinate Clinton's character by reinforcing the lies perpetrated by the right-wing smear "Path to 9/11." blaming Clinton for Bin Laden's attacks.

In this interview, Wallace opened the Pandora's box and Clinton refused to let him shut it--he lashed back at Wallace, Fox, and conservatives perpetrating a fraud and accusing him of being soft on terrorism.

Clinton's counter-arguments were specific, clear, and fair and balanced. So what does FOX do? Promote the interview as "Clinton Freaks Out"... [LOOK OUT! He's telling the truth. He must be crazy!!]. Watch the fireworks this upcoming week as the video is released. See the full transcript here.

Chapman's son Leland, 29, and Timothy Chapman, 41, assist Chapman in exploits chronicled for the TV show around the Hawaiian Islands. The show focuses on Chapman's family as much as the bounty hunting, which generally involves tracking down bail jumpers, often creating emotional scenes with repentant captives.

Charges have been pending against the three since local police in Mexico arrested them shortly after they roped in Luster. They posted bail but allegedly never returned to Puerto Vallarta for their court hearing on July 15, 2003..

Congress Raises Minimum Age of Soldiers to 42

How to address the growing problem: not enough people are signing up for the armed forces to keep waging this war in Iraq. Bonuses don't seem to be helping, and they've turned to keeping soldiers for extra tours of duty because they can't replace them. (Be All that You Can Be...for two or three times as long as you signed up for.)

But now Congress has solved the problem! Yes, it's raised the maximum age to serve in the U.S. Army yet again, this time to 42. For the first time, we can actually have a multi-generational army! Think of the morale boost of fathers and sons serving side-by-side on the battlefield! (And let's not forget those moms...the age raise applies to women soldiers, too! That's one way to avoid future Cindy Sheehans.)

You can even watch it in the rain, in subfreezing conditions, or during the most intense summer heat wave.

What are you waiting for? Don't you already have a TV in every room in the house and one in your car to keep the kids quiet? Fill that empty space in your yard and your soul!

European Journalists Reserve "Right of Blasphemy"

Ok, this is a great story, and it shows how much balls the Europeans have when it comes to freedom of speech and journalism. What's happened is that a Danish newspaper published a characature of Mohammed, the Muslim prophet. Well, Muslims all over the world were outraged and Danish reporters have had to go into hiding over death threats; countries like Saudi Arabia and others are initiating elaborate boycotts of anything and everything Danish as a result of the newspaper's action. Apparently, reproducing any imagine of Mohammed is some sort of grave sin.

However in protest of the Muslim upheval against Denmark, newspapers across Europe have shown the balls that are now non-existent in Western journalism to publish charactures of a variety of religious figures including Mohammed. Where's the American media in all of this? Probably checking with Federal Express, the CATO institute, and Chase Bank to find out what they should print.

Germany's Die Welt daily printed one of the drawings on its front page, arguing that a "right to blasphemy" was anchored in democratic freedoms.
