[Activists]
US conservative groups are up in arms over a music video featuring children's TV heroes such as the cheerful cartoon character SpongeBob SquarePants.

SpongeBob - who appears on the children's cable channel Nickelodeon - is seen as an icon for adult gay men in the US, apparently because he regularly holds hands with his sidekick Patrick, according to James Dobson, nutball and founder of right-wing Christian group Focus on the Family.

Virginia Republican John A. Cosgrove has what he apparently considers a brilliant idea. He wants to enact a new law that states if you have a miscarriage and you don't report it to the authorities within twelve hours, you can get 12 months in jail and a $2,500 fine.

Knowing the Polk County Commission has refused to sanction Nativity scenes on government property, a group of Baptist grandparents took Christmas into their own hands Wednesday. Under the cover of night, they erected a manger scene on the lawn of the Neil Combee County Administration Building. And now the question is whether commissioners will evict Baby Jesus before his birthday.

I'm not quite sure where Frosty plays in, but you have to hand it to those wacky Baptists.

Yesterday, Bush travelled through Iowa hawking his new tax plan. He dragged out Mike and Sharla Hintz, a couple from Clive with four children, whom he said benefited from his tax plan. Mike Hintz, Bush's role model for the day, and a First Assembly of God youth pastor said he supports Bush's Values.

Today, the pastor and Bush role model was fired from his church and arrested on charges of sexual exploitation of at least one underage female in the church youth group.

You gotta love the people the President hangs out with.

[News Media]
Fox News is as usual, inciting a wave of ignorance in publishing a story entitled, "Students free to thank anybody but God".

Nevermind that in Fox's version of the story the Pilgrims all gave thanks to "god" but conveniently left out that the pilgrims didn't believe in crosses (as a form of idolatry), mass, marriage as a religious sacrement, and a large amount of many churchs' sacret rituals.

The FCC recently fined Fox $1.2M for their "sexually suggestive" show Married In America. One individual, via a Freedom of Information Act request obtained documents which disputed the FCC's original claim of the number of people who protested, and found that the campaign was ultimately the work of about three individuals, who managed to effectively lobby the FCC to punish a network producing a show they personally found offensive. Think about that the next time you feel powerless in effecting change.
