[Terroir-ism]
The new Iraqi government, citing "National Security" concerns, has closed down the Baghdad office of the Qatar-based Al-Jazeera television network. They say the network's news stories, focusing on crime and terrorist acts are hurting the country's efforts to rebuild. I'm not sure how you get off on the right hoof in creating a better society when you shut down the main independent media in the nation. Generally speaking, my BS-detector always goes off when someone uses "National Security" as a reason for stifling free speech.

In fairness

Al-Jazeera wasn't that accurate of a newspaper in the first place.
Fairness?

By Bullwinkle's criteria, there are a whole lot of news media in the U.S. that need to be shut down. Anybody got a problem with Fox News being the first on the list?

The thing about free speech is, it's free. Accuracy not guaranteed.
