In these times of depression, *cough*, excuse me "recession", I'm sure many of us are thinking, "I've got an extra two hundred thousand dollars to blow making my pool table look really cool. What can I do?" 
If they were to remake The Wizard of Oz today, I think we'd find one of Dorothy's most famous lines would change. "Thank goodness we're not in Kansas any more, Toto." It seems many people it Kansas still want to repress women as they were in the 1840's, 100 years before this movie first came out.
Some people take college football rivalries pretty seriously. Aggressive trash talking or some mild vandalism are not uncommon when some see the colors of their school's hated rival. Some folks, however, are so serious they'll literally tear your balls off.
It's almost too ironic to be believed: Germany, the nation most associated with beer drinking, may be in danger of running out of the frothy brew before the World Cup soccer finals roll around. And it's not even the German fans who are causing the drought--it's the English fans drinking the local braureien dry. Even the German bartenders, who see some beer drunk on an average day, are astonished by the capacity of the English.
It looks like I'm not alone. While I enjoy the olympics and the figure skating has been interesting, I still am not sure what to make over some of these outfits. What are the designers thinking? It used to be skating costumes were merely "gay"-looking. Now they've moved into the realm of some kind of weird mushroom-induced, Michael Jacksonfied, when-animals-attack, Caligula-inspired, barbie-doll, mermaid-transexual, lion king afterbirth nightmare. What is the deal?
