At first glance, Eric Paone does not seem your typical conservative true believer. The 35-year-old guitarist of the New Hampshire thrash metal band Candy Striper Death Orgy, has a flowing mane of hair, swears and cackles as he relates dirty jokes. His band’s odd name was inspired by an adult feature Paone and his friends checked out once in college, which is appropriate enough, actually, since the thrasher’s day job consists of running a string of adult bookstores christened "The Moonlight Readers."

Jose Avila was a little short on cash and had no furniture, so he improvised, equipping much of his house with makeshift furniture fashioned from Federal Express boxes. After he put up a web site showing off his creations, FedX apparently wasn't happy and is threatening legal action using, among other things, the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) as the basis.

This seems to be the latest in mean-spirited efforts on the part of Federal Express. The company in the past was instrumental in getting Bill Maher's television show "Politically Incorrect" cancelled after its host spoke out against the administration's position on terrorism and war with Iraq. In this issue, we find FedEx claiming that because this guy is using a .COM address, he intends to operate some commercial endeavor using their logo, and must be stopped.

Does the name "Natalee Holloway" ring a bell? If your butt has been in front of any news channel in the last month, it probably has been subjected to this latest crime-story-pundit-fest. This is the 18-year-old Alabama girl who vanished while on a school trip to Aruba and has fueled a media frenzy. The guys over at kuro5hin have a brilliant op-ed piece entitled, "f*ck Natalee Holloway", which outlines the insane disparity between select white people who poof and the large number of other young women and children who go missing each year and whom the media doesn't give a damn about. And when you have things like Holland sending three F-16 warplanes to assist in the search for Natalee, the disgusting circus and the amount of money pissed into a singular case expands to epic preportions of superficiality and sensationalism. Read on for the whole story... and about Reyna Gabriela Alvarado-Carrera, pictured here, who disappeared about the same time, nobody seems to give a damn about.

Dawn Turner Trice writes, If we took all of our cues from the media, we'd be forced to conclude that the only people who come up missing in this country are young girls and women who are white. Who are middle- to upper-middle-class. Who are cute as a button.

Let's not forget blonde.

This is a little story about a guy named Thesith Williams, who was looking for a fresh start. He figured a clever way would be to "seek revenge" by naming his web site after the title of the latest film in the uber-over-hyped Star Wars franchise. Actually this is a story about a guy who snatches the domain, revengeofthesith.com and concocts a clever story of a pseudo-ficticious novel that the web site promotes, whereupon he can capitalize on the notoriety of the aforementioned George Lucas separate-a-geek-from-his-money-fest.

Maryland computer programmer, John Winter Smith has a noble goal. No he's not working on decoding the human genome, designing a secure operating system, or creating flawless voice recognition.

John Smith's goal: to visit every Starbucks Coffee store in the world. So far he's bought coffee at more than 4,500 stores of the chain in North America and more than 200 overseas.

What a coincedence. My noble goal has been to walk into every Starbucks and scream, "What the F*** is wrong with you people?!?"
